I can just get off the bus and see tons of cute local stores and walk past a cafe and go “i could use a treat :D” on the way to my next bus stop
Whoever invented suburbs should die (for a number of reasons but making it so i havent been in a city my whole life is up there)

It’s not just zoning laws although that’s part of it. It’s also that cities approve development plans that maximize developable land so the road network is a labyrinth with no connectivity and minimal ways in and out. Not only is there nothing in your neighborhood but sometimes there’s nothing even super close to drive to
