limbus company has an ensemble cast of 12 (13 if you count dante, the main character) characters sourced from classical literature, known as the “Sinners” and each of them are put into the setting of the previous Project Moon games, the City
each of them has a “canto” in which they are focused on & have large amounts of character moments
1-3 are the same narrative arc, because they are the introductory cantos, and the focus characters of these (gregor from the metamorphosis, rodion from crime and punishment, and sinclair from demian) still have a lot of undeveloped things, more so than the other sinners
4 is a bit messy but still ends really well, and focuses on Yi Sang, who incorporates several short stories by & the actual life of the korean poet Yi Sang, most primarily The Wings
5, the one I glaze the most, essentially functions as an adapted sequel to Moby Dick and its fucking awesome
other sinners include Hong Lu, who is Jia Bayou from Dream of the Red chamber
Faust from Faust, who is a woman (they genderbent like half of them but sshh)
Don Quixote from Don Quixtoe
Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights (genuinely an insane adaptation that still manages to be really fucking good, certainly better than every other adaptation ever)
and several more, such as Meursalt from the stranger, outis who is oddyseus ( fun fact: outis means nobody ), and ryoshu, an adaptation of the short story Hell Screen
