All the autism spectrum questions here were very, like, interpersonal-themed and not at all about the things that I experience as autism
Grits is my favorite breakfast but
The fact that it makes it so I donāt even start to get lunch hungry until 3 in the afternoon is cringe
Three is way too late to be lunch hungry
Autism (Canāt intuitively understand social interaction and how people work)
Vs
Autism (Long-term hyperfixation on select topics to a greater depth than is otherwise considered normal)
?
Sensory issues, motor issues, emotional regulation, getting overwhlemed by stuff
Autism (developmental disability)
Yeah, fair
The Thing You Canāt Notice Online And Thus Nobody Ever Thinks About It Because They Get Their Shared Cultural Understanding From Online
Fair
My brain, at the motor issues:
Is it autistic to sometimes just not have your fingers do what you want them to do when doing tasks?
IDK I look at the diagnostic criteria and I think even the diagnostic criteria are really overly social-focused? Which I think is stupid, at least FMPOV
Social stuff is less intuitive to me but itās not difficult to learn. Itās not āexhausting evil maskingā like some people portray it as, itās fine.
But thereās a bunch of closer-to-physical stuff that still shows up when Iām home alone in my room, that are well-attested as symptoms of autism, and those are the things that feel at all meaningful to me?
(Real thing I experience. My fingers are not cooperative a lot of the time, makes gaming harder and part of why I prefer turn based games. Also scrubbing with a sponge will sometimes just have a āI adjusted my finger wrong and it feels weird for a moment before going back to normalā)
But lots of things can cause fingers donāt do things as Iād like them to
So I guess this is an issue with the diagnostic criteria rather than the quiz.
Itās quite easy to learn social stuff as rules and experiences. Itāll result in delayed social development, but not zero, I know what is and isnāt rude, sometimes Iāll notice a new thing thatās rude and then train myself not to do that anymore. I guess those are the most noticeable things to others. But like. The frequently-attested cluster of sensory issues and trouble with processing and moving and stuff seems so much more. Important?
Canāt/hard to train yourself out of not being able to handle loud noises / select noises or bad textures or being easily overwhelmed
Textures is food?
Food is probably the most well known but
Textures is textures
Thatās just anything to do with oneās sense of touch
For example, there are a few fabric types that I just. Hate. Cannot stand at all.
Fleece is the main one that comes to mind iirc
Also. Markers on paper. That is the devil.
i think a major facet of Autism is just a processing diff. that goes for social processing as well as senses
please donāt take away my hard worked title just because youāre upset at an object
Also microfiber
Hate microfiber
I will continue to refer to things as the devil because Iām angy at them
