I’m like the weakest kind of linguistics nerd. There’s a ton of basic stuff I don’t know, but I watched KPop Demon Hunters the other day thought about the group’s name “Huntrix” and my brain started breaking it down. The -trix suffix is a Latin suffix for the feminine form of agent nouns, and “hunter” is an agent noun, but it has the English agent noun suffix of -er and the more natural suffix for a feminine form is -ess for English nouns (and sure enough, “huntress” is a word). But this line of thought made me realize the the etymology of “hunt” is very likely English rather than Latin because of its suffix (and I later confirmed it was). Anyway, that was cool. I think the name “Huntrix” doesn’t sound that strange to my ear though because both the agent suffixes -er and -tor can sound the same when the word ended in “t” e.g. the last syllable of “hunter” and “actor” sound the same in most dialects of English. That wouldn’t work if you tried applying it to other agent nouns like rower from “to row” can’t become “rowtrix” and not sound alien. Anyway ramble over

Not while orange man is in office ive heard scary stuff of people being detained at the the border or sent back. China doesnt have the reputation of the most democratic country in western circles but i feel like china would be more friendly towards me (a tourist / immigrant) than the US in the next 3 years

It still happens?
