Wow, yeah. The attack at the end of POV9 really came out of nowhere. It also fits into the narrative that Solomon became paranoid of the Wolves. (I.e., actual pets of the gods that can shapeshift into humans.)
Having more insight from the lieutenant’s POV, I find it unfortunate that the southern expedition got delayed. The raise in their renumeration is supposed to be a joyful occassion, but… I agree with Solomon and Dane: This is usually a means to raise morale for the bad things that are yet to come.
Apparently there was a northern expedition with the Ashvales, the coven leader, and maybe the vagabonds. More gore was apparently found in the farmhouses’ uh… cellar or something underground. Also, they encountered the adjudicator coming with a priest during their return. Uh. Yeah, I can imagine Gwen unable to stay calm, given the history of the coven and the church.
The adjudicator himself sounds like a nice person at first glance. His French accent kind of makes me uncomfortable, but if I were to look at only his actions, then he has done nothing egregious so far. Striving towards progress while only being informed of the superficial details of the fort and the archnemeses.
The priest… Well, at least he tolerates drinking at the fort. So he isn’t stubborn. That’s a positive, but as a nagging pessimist, I’d like to hold my judgement before I give him any praise. (If any at all.) The thing is, as Solomon said: The church is built upon the gods that the vagabonds worshipped, of which they then altered -distorted- to the church’s liking. I just don’t trust groups of worshippers, and fanatics in particular. I have yet to determine the priest’s nature, but if he is a fanatic, then I’ll support Stiorra to kill another priest.
