Okay, but why are they powerful?
I’ve definitely been sleeping on this form of communicative, because I personally don’t see any benefit to this form of power as a player.

(As setup designer, it’s an okay role.)

to me its about controlling the flow of information. Especially in a mechanical-heavy game, it can allow town to coordinate actions in a way that the wolves aren’t privy to, etc.

Also, you can coordinate other things such as claim swaps and reactiontests etc. Such as claiming a redcheck from somebody else, or doing some sort of dual reactiontest that is likely to catch wolves off guard.

For wolves, in a game with 24/7 wolfchat, the ability primarily allows an enterprising wolf to pretend to be doing these things and controlling information in a way that’s pro-wolf vs. pro-town

its a powerful ability but very much a “what you make of it” ability, that is next to worthless in the hands of a slanker, as opposed to a cop or doctor whose abilities aren’t strongly impacted by player activity

I once played an open setup with a town messenger

It was probably the least balanced game ive played in a while, since i was mech confirmed without having to claim anything publicly

Obviously it’s way weaker in a non-open setup, but still
You can coordinate things privately, which is huge

…oh wait. Now I remember why I don’t value Neighbors.

I suck at socializing.

Thank you for answering my question!

NYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I love playing as communicative roles, and it’d be nice to see them more often

(one of the few players to not get a neighborhood in April showers reconstructed :crying_cat_face:)

I got good news for you: April Showers The Third

I exploited that setup like crazy

There also wasn’t a cap on the message length so you got stuff like this

my n1 message

Congrats, you got a message from your friendly neighborhood Messenger!

Uhh… thanks? Now what?

Glad you asked! I made a code.

I’m a… Code Phrase
Messenger Mockingjay
Doctor Dove
Inventor Jackdaw
Alert Townie Chickadee
JOAT Raven
Tracker Sparrow
Cop Thrush
Townie Robin

…uhh…

Confused? Good. :smiling_imp:

Say the bird that corresponds with your role. For instance, if you are a Doctor, say the word “Dove” in chat. Preferably slipped into a bunch of other conversation so that way you don’t get people suspicious of you.

If somebody else says “Mockingjay,” then that’s me.

But why should I tell you my role? You’re some sketchy person I met on the internet!

Well…

There are 3 ways people can send messages.

a) Using a Message item
b) Being the JOAT
c) Being the Messenger

It’s night 1, which means no items have been given yet. So it can’t be a. And either way, regardless if I’m JOAT or Messenger, you can still trust me, since both are Town roles. Therefore, you can trust me with your role.

What if my role’s not on there?

Thanks! There’s no Mafia/Illuminati birds for a reason.

Wait, no, I-

Now I know who to use this Gun on!

But- You can’t- That was a hypothetical question!

Nice talking to you :)

I dreamt that I had a girlfriend. I hugged her and laid my head on her shoulder. She smelled nice and was kind to me. It was the best I’ve felt in forever. I wish I stayed in that dream :sob:
