a character written to be 95-100% perfect is boring as hell and flat

a character written to be 85-95% perfect is awesome (think superman)

a character written to be 80-85% perfect is self insert territory and is bad

anything below that (75-80% is well matured adult territory which is fine usually) has a good odds to be decent

numbers are very fudged but the idea is

  • perfect characters are boring
  • almost perfect characters are fine
  • just below almost perfect characters are boring

i don’t have a good conceptualizaiton of what 80-85% perfect looks like

you do know if he’s hands guy and you take his surname it’s not a nickname anymore

i hope to god his last name isnt hands for a number of reasons (but one fairly big one)

My self-inserts are, like, 50% perfect. skill issue.

he’s your oc you decide his surname!

maybe even less than that. my classic self-insert is someone very imperfect, evil leaning true neutral, but with a sympathetic reason and opportunity to change.

i’ll figure out what just below almost perfect entails

you do that

Ok so like when theyre almost perfect you emphasize the distance through the proximity you see how good they could be and the ways their imperfections limit them

Just below almost perfect you lose focus?
