you can do a neutral/chaotic evil party but you need to basically have them be the henchmen for the big bad of the world and skew the campaign around that

The day the good character was forced to accept the existence of corruption, it was begrudging cooperation. However, unless Iâm getting the timeline wrong, the good character opened up to the evil character within less than a month.
Yeah, uh. Something ainât right.
So hereâs the joke: There is no party. This is just a team of two, which then more or less became a small party of three with the addition of a neutral good character. (Who for whatever reason appeared to have been already acquainted with the evil character.)
Okay, but do you have an easier way of summarizing a character within a sentence of less than 10 words? It doesnât encompass everything, sure, but it gets the job done. The personalities of the two characters donât mesh well prior to their ceasefire, so the idea that they become -to put it lightly- well-accustomed with each other is what baffles me.

thinking about it an episodic campaign as woefully incompetent henchmen sounds amusing but would get old quick

It can act as a more literal game mechanic in dnd, like acting a certain way can change your alignment, and that alignment change can lock access to features that relied on your old alignment
ive heard of all evil/neutral parties who in-character didnât like each other but were forced to be together by a shared goal
the biggest thing is just the culture of the campaign and the style you want. you can have a campaign where characters arenât necessairly friends but like, that has to be an agreed upon thing beforehand and everyone has to be like âyeah, thats the vibe i wantâ

Either way I do also use alignment as shorthand sometimes but not for much more than that on account of not dming dnd
