The answer is no and like literally all chaotic evil or chaotic neutral characters there is no reason for them to have any motivation to be in the partt

you can do a neutral/chaotic evil party but you need to basically have them be the henchmen for the big bad of the world and skew the campaign around that

otherwise the question of “why are we a party” comes up endlessly

The day the good character was forced to accept the existence of corruption, it was begrudging cooperation. However, unless I’m getting the timeline wrong, the good character opened up to the evil character within less than a month.

Yeah, uh. Something ain’t right.

So here’s the joke: There is no party. This is just a team of two, which then more or less became a small party of three with the addition of a neutral good character. (Who for whatever reason appeared to have been already acquainted with the evil character.)

Okay, but do you have an easier way of summarizing a character within a sentence of less than 10 words? It doesn’t encompass everything, sure, but it gets the job done. The personalities of the two characters don’t mesh well prior to their ceasefire, so the idea that they become -to put it lightly- well-accustomed with each other is what baffles me.

Good. So I wasn’t crazy after all, and it really was the perma-brainwashing that tamed the good character. Phew… What a relief. I still have some degree of common sense.

the thing about dnd is that you get a lot of words to describe the character actually they’re always fucking talking

bc from my understanding alignments are more so like, a general descriptor of how a character would act, rather than something you “run”

Short attention span → Lack of interest.

It can act as a more literal game mechanic in dnd, like acting a certain way can change your alignment, and that alignment change can lock access to features that relied on your old alignment

ive heard of all evil/neutral parties who in-character didn’t like each other but were forced to be together by a shared goal

the biggest thing is just the culture of the campaign and the style you want. you can have a campaign where characters aren’t necessairly friends but like, that has to be an agreed upon thing beforehand and everyone has to be like “yeah, thats the vibe i want”

Either way I do also use alignment as shorthand sometimes but not for much more than that on account of not dming dnd

It’s not super relevant here, an alignment-less system could easily have a similar intraparty conflict
