They’re going to have an island raise up in million of years anyways

reminds me

one piece of fanart i really do like is jonathan sims from magnus archives eating the wires of a cassette tape

it’s just so good with the context

The Sims 3 pets for the Xbox 360 may control like ass but forcefully taking an unknown couple’s poodle to a walk at an abandoned mine is great gameplay, laughed so much just watching it happen

That is a logical answer that I did not want.

Slightly off-topic.

That is the very same line of reasoning why Roleblocker tends to be Mafia-aligned; because they want to disrupt Town’s actions.

However, Town Roleblocker is also a reasonable and viable role, because the concept of “causing disruption” is also applicable to the Mafia, towards the one performing the factional kill.
(This is the more direct approach compared to the indirect approach coming from Doctors and Rolestoppers.)

My line of questioning is: “Where are the Town Role Cops?” and not “Why does Role Cop tend to be Mafia-aligned?”

Compared to Town Alignment Cops, Town Role Cop can still learn roles, but (most) roles are strictly speaking not alignment indicative. There is nothing preventing any setup designer to make a “Town Godfather” or a “Mafia Miller” to throw Town Role Cops off the loop.

My answer implied that Role Cops aren’t always mafia aligned, though I can see why that would be missed.

My apologies for my heated response.
I did not pick up on your implication.

BTW Mafia Role Cop exists in BOTC.

I have seen and used town role cop a number of times over the years, mostly (but not always) in larger games. It’s fine, but it can be weird. It tends not to do a whole lot. I would guess it doesn’t get used that often because it’s rare that it fits a setup design as a village role.

:new_moon: And of course, role cops make a lot more sense in BotC at a baseline, with the unraveling of the tapestry of truth that can so often happen in the endgame.

Yeah
Town flavor cop is more common in my experience, at least in closed setups

…I need to make Observation Hell 2 in advance. There is no way I wouldn’t be tempted to make a setup with Town Role Cop after hearing that.

Unless flavor is alignment indicative, then Flavor Cop is a glorofied Visitor IYAM.

Flavor is often role indicative

…? Clearly, I have not played enough games then. Either that, or I have not broken enough common senses.

There was role indicative flavor in the last game I hosted There's No Freaking Way Town Will Win on FoL! Unless...

There was role indicative flavor in the last closed-setup game Willow hosted Project Moon UPick - Fourth Trumpet (Game Over, Mafia Wins) - Abnormality Info Released

Flavor is role indicative in FAM FAM5 - Thread 6 - Day 5 - THE SCHOOL OF WOLFING WINS

Flavor is usually completely NAI and NRI in open-setup games, and may also be NRI in non-flavor-based games where it’s more of an aside, but a lot of more complicated, flavor-based games, the roles will be based on flavor

…? …! Oh wait, I misread “role” for “alignment”.
[Flavor → Role] is not much of an issue to me.

And that’s why town flavor cop can act as a lower-power version of a rolecop: you learn some information about their role that may support or weaken a claim, but not their exact role
