18981st poster gets a cookie (cookie thread (Part 7)) (Part 10)

for a while in MU debatechat we had a graph of people by how much they believed that {bad people intrinsically Deserved to suffer} (the other axis was sexual/romantic orientation), and people kept showing up, telling me how much they wanted to torture their ideological opponents or whatever, and then getting mad at me for putting them in the “thinks bad people intrinsically Deserve to suffer” part of the graph. Because the people they thought deserved to suffer were really bad

Ah, Daeron. There wasn’t enough drama in the cookie thread I was concerned. Can you solve that?

You made the classic deserves/owed blunder. Everyone deserves love but not everyone is owed it. No one deserves to suffer but some people are owed it.

Debateable, though none of us is getting tossed off a ship over it.

I kinda want to watch bad people suffer but I don’t think they deserve to

The antecedent is a thing that comes before or gives rise to. I specifically most often hear it as a grammatical term meaning the thing a pronoun refers to (e.g. the antecedent of “it” in this sentence is “the word antecedent”)

Brb, inviting literally everyone in the server May was just talking about to FoL, including the person they’re supposedly targeting.
