It is a simple weapon you are capable of using it skill issue
This is why I like mafia: you can stab people despite having eaten nothing but two chocolate chip cookies.
i do not have bonuses with things that are not crossbows or guns.
Be the change you want to see, like kyo and his Bard that is inexplicably a martial
learning about any amount of Chinese history is awesome because you inevitably encounter the Top 10 Worst Things To Happen In Or Around Nanjing and youâre like âTHIS IS NUMBER 7???â
itâs also interesting and enlightening, as is all history, but every history has itsâ quirks and some of them are amusing as well as horrifying
Use Overheat instead. Checkmate.
The STR-based melee weapons have to be the one handed axe and one handed mace imo. Not because theyre heavy, but because you need to land an explosive strike, and there isnt much of a lever. A swinging polearm i dont think need that much stength, physics are on your side via a long lever
Also two handed maces are a fictional weapon, though there are two handed hammers

Admittedly a lot of blunt weapons in medieval fantasy tend to be unrealistic
Maybe for striking the polearm you wouldnât need strength (and let gravity deal the damage). But for swinging (sweeping) you definetly should need strength (to do serious damage.) Physics can only help, when there is anything to help to. (Also since basically you are the center of gravity for the polearm, longer lever doesnât really help for swinging the polearm.)
And I would still argue, that your opponent can easily avoid your polearm, if you strike down without any strength.
It does, because you dont hold it in the middle of the shaft, you hold it in the end
Thereâs a lot of reason to think that in early hunter-gatherer societies, women were the hunters and men stayed around the settlement. Thereâs evidence in the historical record for this, and also just biomechanics. Women tend to be better long distance runners and have less natural body hair meaning they can more easily shed heat. When youâre using even primitive weapons while pack hunting, differences in average muscle mass is largely irrelevant when it comes to killing exhausted and cornered prey. Why would they have the hairy and bulky ass members of camp who are optimized for short bursts of high strength go out on the persistence hunting trips? Let them stay at camp to defend the young and elderly, and move around boulders and logs or whatever.
If you swing a polearm with a large enough arc that gravity can do sufficient work, youâve just left yourself exposed for more than enough time to let your opponent get in a swift thrust and kill you. Overhead swings are insanely risky maneuvers.
You still need to not be a complete stick, but the diminishing returns for polearms are reached much sooner than for one handed striking weapons i think
speaking of weapons Iâm trying to write a murder mystery again. Despite having developed severe issues with constant fatigue
I love murder mysteries
I dont think gravity does much of anything. Polearms, like halberds, are very light. Im not sure why both you and marluna are thinking that im suggesting a video game like heavy winded attack. Im saying that the strength requirements for using a one handed mace and axe effectively are higher than the strength requirements for using a polearm effectively
The difference between a warhammer, longsword, and polearm is going to be a few pounds/kg at most. Strength wasnât nearly as important as endurance and training.
