(ok im not saying that its, like, the actual christian teaching to fuckitweball marry at 21 before ever having a full time job and think about the consequences later. But I have a solid number of people from my middle/high school who are already married despite that, and all of them are devoutly catholic. My theory is that they are the types that follow the ā€˜no sex before marriageā€™ rule but still want to have sex, but thereā€™s probably a lot more factors going into it)

(a comically american term for a wedding that is rushed and happens because a guy got a girl pregnant and they want to avoid the shame of having a baby outside of marriage. The shotgun part comes from the father of the bride having a figurative shotgun held at the groom forcing him to marry his daughter in order to avoid the shame/fallout from a bastard)
