The melodrama is what I find cringey, as you called out correctly. This isn’t exclusive to anime. Japanese television as a whole is like that. I enjoyed anime a lot when I was a teenager because the drama was easy to digest and I was easily affected by it. Which makes sense because I was the target audience. Arguably this is no fault of anime, but it’s Japanese television as a whole I’m beefing with
I could not take the latest Godzilla film seriously. I don’t know if they made a newer one after the last one I saw. I just wanted to laugh at moments where the director wanted me to feel sad

Melodrama isn’t just something that only teenagers enjoy. It sounds like you just don’t like it anymore (which is okay), but I still enjoy it just fine.

I didnt say that others cant enjoy it. Most anime have teen-aged characters even if the story could work perfectly fine with adult ones. The authors want it to be relatable to the ppl theyre trying to reach, is what im saying by target audience. Other audiences arent forbidden from liking it

cant wait to see kodaka do revisionism on all the dr2 characters/ending. In a good way hopefully. But also like if the murders are any good? Like even without playing any of them it must suck to know that the fanganronpa scene exists writing-wise.
