you gotta buld a whole new economy? damn…
More like building my grade for it to pass
I would pick the cheeseburger, and if they any child near me, which needs it - more than me -, I would give the food to them.
(I don’t trust donations)
I’m also kind of skeptical to charities. I don’t know how to check that the donations won’t just get siphoned or that are effective.
cough TeamSeas cough Team Trees
did those get siphoned? I never really kept up with them but I had little reason to assume they wouldn’t be put towards what they said they would go towards
Mr. Beast is a trustworthy individual
I… don’t think they got siphoned. It’s just they’re not really efficient projects
didn’t team trees plant 20 million trees
and didn’t team seas remove 30 million pounds of trash
like I guess you can start to argue notional good per dollar but like they did do exactly what they said on the tin
[pulls out the effective altruism]
like every dollar to team seas directly helped remove over a pound of garbage from our water
which really is not bad?
like idk it just feels like badmouthing charities in general because of two that… did exactly what they said they were going to do? seems misguided to me
I’m operating on “what a guy on the internet said”, so feel free to correct.
From what I’ve heard on both projects is that it doesn’t solve the problems in the slightest. 30 million pounds of trash from the seas is still 1% of the problem solved and the trees help only a little bit to combat the noxious dense Co2 pollution.
Ocean pollution and climate change are horribly systematic. And if that’s all they could do within due diligence, then I guess there’s no issues with the projects neccessarily.
Mucho texto. Nope. I ain’t doing that bit.
i think the issue people had iirc is that one pound or one tree isnt actually rhat much compared to how big the prohlem is
but imo, 30 million pounds of trash and 20 million trees is A Lot of trash n trees
I mean sure it makes a small fractional difference in the larger issue but that’s realistically only as much as you can do with a few tens of millions of dollars
Sorry if I appeared that way, but no. That’s not my point actually. I want charities to be 100% transparent before I donate money, I really hate the thought of giving money to potentially greedy people who choose to pocket them for themselves.
