I mostly think about the word haughty in like fantasy contexts where a noble person acts haughty around a commoner or an elf acts haughty around a human. They’ll come off as arrogant and like they think they are superior. To self-aggradize is to act in a way that is a particular kind of self-serving like a bard telling the story of an adventure as if they were the brave one who fearlessly stood up to the bandit leader and the one who landed the killing blow on the dragon. It’s doing something to make yourself look good or to give yourself more wealth, power, or influence.

every time i read the word haughty i think its the word naughty. its basically identical. there is just one small line thats slightly taller and i need to double check to make sure its taller. and then im confused
