mods having access to the global admin account makes them de facto admins, not just mods. a bit sus. unless itā€™s necessary for them to have it to do regular mod stuff. in which case L discourse

the admin account is capable of changing site settings but broadly incapable of backend site changes, which are done off-site through our hosting provider and is inaccessible to anybody except Chloe and myself

the Admin account also has all of its actions logged

there isnā€™t much genuine risk but (as we just saw) it can certainly cause inconvenience if used without proper reasoning

at the end of the day I am literally not upset at May over this whatsoever and no real harm was done (nor was there ever much potential for genuine harm), and it was kinda funny so like itā€™s a win in my book

yeah

but like fundamentally the site was never at any real risk of anything going seriously wrong (except at worst maybe needing to track down whoever has the original logo image, but even that I was able to recover lol)
