Going to go see Wicked tomorrow at the Gershwin Theatre.
Or, rather, Iām going to go if I actually sleep because I canāt because Iāve gone the entire day on only cookies.
Thereās a cookie place next to my dorm that opened at the start of the year, and my roommates have placed bets on whether it makes it to the end of the semester.
It makes amazing cookies, but itās also expensive, and you can get a BOGO deal if you go there after 9pm because they make the cookies fresh every day and thus need to get rid of them before closing.
This is dangerously close to a May post.
Just missing the wonky capitalization.
Thatās not even really my thing⦠wait, hold on, I should say itās ānot really My Thingā. I always feel a bit weird about people associating it strongly with my persona, since I actually associate it with not-me, I associate it with being a really common thing on Tumblr that I hijack occasionally when I need it for communication/emphasis but which I do not particularly Enjoy. But I do do it a lot. So I guess itās a common feature of my posts
We should open a weekly discussion on both updating discourse vs keeping the VC plugin and the Politics rule.
i like the implication that if we update discourse we HAVE to get rid of the politics rule
I was unaware that people were actively wanting FoL to be a place to avoid politics and if thatās what people want then it probably should be And It Is Not Right Now
? AFAIK barring the April Foolsā thing (which was again a communication failure) IDT people have been talking politics much at all recently? We specifically had a whole thing a little bit ago about making it clear we were still enforcing that rule
I say to the person with an MTG avatar
Where is the line drawn at āpoliticsā? Because there appears to be a line which definitely exists but is invisible to me, clearly
i donāt feel like politics is talked about much here in the first place, and i also donāt think the way the april fools event handled the situation and people being averse to it is āwanting to avoid politicsā
i think the rule is fine and is enforced well enough
i do think getting rid of the no politics rule is a Bad Idea. We saw how the politics thread went lmao
i didnāt because i used my infinite intelligence and immediately muted the thread
erm, that would be wisdom!
Are we considering the-discussion-or-voicing-of-opinions-of-political-topics-but-on-topics-which-have-viewpoints-which-are-entirely-or-near-enough-consensus-in-FoL as politics or not?
you didnāt have the intelligence to avoid making that remark to my face. into the pit of a billion snakes.
because I am under the opinion that there is actively political discussion on this forum at least every week
or at least that is what it feels like
i feel like you might be confusing fol with people from fol
since like, im sure nerdcord or somethin be talking about politics but i do not get the feeling there is actiev political disucssion here often at all?
Oh, might be a difference in definition, then. Itās a kinda arbitrary distinciton in my mind between āthings usually banned by no politics rulesā (sensitive/controversial political topics) and āthings which still unambiguously fall under the umbrella of politics but which do not tend to spark distress or arguments in users and thus are not usually understood as politics by no-politics rulesā. When I see āno politicsā in a site rule I generally understand that to not forbid discussion of, like, public transit policy. Iām way too damn tired and paper-writing to like think about the explicit distinction here but itās a thing
