20000th poster gets a cookie (cookie thread (Part 7)) (Part 9)

You’re the star of the show in this crazy night
All dressed up and ready for a glass of wine
Keep on drinking until you become so drunk
Enjoy yourself, have fun
Sing and dance all night, have the time of your life
To everything that’s sweet and bitter say goodbye
'Til we all go mad and we lose our minds
Enjoy this happy night

so are you saying there’s a bunch of groups with consistent, extremely accurate predictions, yet those predictions are consistently lowballed by media orgs’s reported predictions?

i don’t track this stuff at all but that seems like it should be pretty easy to show if true

I think it could also be an attention bias thing? Movies that flop you’re less likely to have heard of and less likely to pay attention to the ticket sales

not like uproarious but a good laugh. not the kind of laugh that causes you to laugh again at the thought of afterwards

If you’re only looking at the movies everybody’s talking about then of course predictions are usually beat, you’re looking at successful movies specifically

I don’t keep those in the memories banks so I genuinely have no clue

The people on boxofficetheory are the best from what I can gather. Don’t know if there are people who are more accurate.

if thats a forum then you could prolly make a post there asking if anybody has compiled statistics that show a pattern of media outlets consistently underpredicting third-party experts to the detriment of their prediction’s ultimate accuracy

I don’t care enough about this argument to create an account and ask that tbh
