i used to wake up a lot in the night and not be able to fall back asleep

Most people here can speak English just fine. From what I see and in my neighborhood, it’s rather rare to encounter someone who doesn’t speak English. (Though they do still exist, as I had a colleague who couldn’t speak English. But then again Dutch was her second language.)

to be fair (?) if I didn’t know anything about this and someone told me “Mr. Beast did not actually trap a man in a burning building” I think my assumption would be that the building was not actually burning, not that the building was burning but the man was arguably not trapped and there were fire safety precautions
