umineko ep. 6 spoilers (and a lot of general (somewhat annoyed) thoughts so far as it turns out)
I was a battler doubter (in part because of the scenes of entity in locked room. ft. other entity who eats fingers (no relation to anybody else who has been referenced w/rt fingers being eaten) and yet he didn’t. (retroactive seals are terrible)

That’s STUPID wtf do you mean that’s not how this works the game master has the authority in that things aren’t known to the human side but there is no reason that should be mirrored.
though also like insanely messed up it does have to be said.
(I do also think the “ah well they were actually alive” thing is kind of. bad? like yeah i guess so that explains things. defective solution though. both in this & the previous case. should’ve been expected to a degree both off process of elimination (was considering it particularly w/rt E-1 Kanon) and i’ve seen and then there were none referenced as inspiration & recently learned what that book’s deal is). It just kind of feels like it’s arbitrarily “look for explanations that are not perfectly airtight” though i will give some lenience to maybe i’m just stupid & not reading the red text right.
Tbc i still think it’s a phenomenal work of fiction just not really liking the mystery. Like I don’t think there are active ways to figure out who fake Kinzo (& maaybe Kanon? it says ‘his name’ but we know blatantly he has two names as well as ch. 3 which they heavily implied to be a result of names) which could be because ‘ah well that would give away the mystery’ but when those already were nearly impossible names to get to…
like i feel like it violates a line of thinking outside the box to straight up breaking the agreements held with the reader. Episode 2 Envelope cool great love that all good fun I even figured it out before he said it; kinzo being dead was maybe workable if I was thinking about it hard enough but. god.
(I also think it’s kind of impossible then to determine who it is then; some bodies are allegedly real but also when beatrice says ‘no corpses have been misidentified’ she could just mean that they alive people are not corpses and therefore haven’t been misidentified but that’s such a stupid interpertation i don’t want to believe it in situations where i am not being forced to find loopholes in people’s speech.
Beato’s explanation… ok first of all insanely messed up from Erika. but also it feels wrong in that yes it aligns with what those characters would want in a sense but there’s no reason it would necessarily follow that they be in those rooms or even that them being in those rooms provides evidence to this theory
It also seemingly proves that the culprit is not necessarily the same for each game which was kind of what i was running with but it also kind of makes it a new start & muddies the waters as to what’s liable to change with each game (i think this has become more clear with the explanation) yet also people keep saying there’s one culprit & kind of implied by ch. 5 “go solve it”

(while we’re going with complaints i think the distinction between player/piece can be incredibly blurry and i’m mixed on it in that it obviously conflicts with efforts to understand, as a mystery expects, but also besides that i don’t care.)
like if it ends up being something stupid like “ah well he stands in the space between where the door is closed and where the door is to set it” which i don’t think it is they haven’t quite crossed that line but it could work i’m going to kill somebody.
(Back to liveblogging) this does put a new spin on the finger-eating section from earlier becuase i mean. illusion magic. but also it felt like a very pointed reference to kyrie. they’re doing more obvious stuff (see the ‘everyone’ name debocle) so when they said eat somebody’s finger off… but the thing is kyrie wasn’t on my (admittedly kinda long) list of suspects)… oh yeah i do also think it’s pretty likely that there’s multiple killers which makes things. pretty much always do-able like idk they just turned on each other differently and that’s what lead to different things, rosa was in control at first hence maria was protected, eva did ep. 3 because… she solved the epitaph? which is an entirely different but similar matter though this would mean battler is ep. 5, though again rosa has the capacity to solve it as we see in ep. 3.
(also nya should be noted i’ve been spoiled on some things or at least thinkk i have been and it’s messing with some of these predictions but)
… why are they acting like battler’s being naive isn’t his whole deal pride.
ok i kind of expected it to be over but you know more isn’t bad (esp because maybe we get more than first twilight 
) I suppose i accept that the magic-based stuff is pure illusion and Battler seemingly not having control makes sense; no matter how counterintuitive.

romance subplot is kinda cool for as much as I hate george (sliiightly redeeming himself in some ways but also)
Ange segments are pretty cool i think it’s neat that the author just has a character who knows everything & also ange’s awesome.
lol hishuragi stuff (think i understand it just fine & it probably makes sense as a writing decision but you can’t expect people to have read the previous game. i think.) well you could it just would be odd from what i know (& what with the ordering of things)
I guess I’ll think about the mystery then.

… ok so they’re just going for there was a person but they went through the guesthouse. cool. great. that is technically within scope. but also not enough details were given to confirm this. the love shtick makes me think it’s rudolf but that doesn’t really matter.
FML are they ACTUALLY saying that the seals were re-made when that was a primary point of evidence last time or are the characters having a moment. shocking.

i think the furniture thing loses some depth when centering the real explanation i really enjoyed that part in ch. 4 to the point i wasn’t convinced there was a real explanation. i mean the point is that they can still believe in the magic (even though it’s less emphasized with those two than natsuhi/maria) but. still you can’t pretend it has no effect.

thankfully we have our lovely people who have already brute forced this like the same day i decided i wanted to visualise it :)
the issue with that? Ok first of all it takes a few days to run. not good. but thankfully theyve already done the output! hooray!
the output is split across 11 txt files. not so hooray
i had my computer put it into something i can easily lookup overnight but my FUCKING COMPUTER FORCE RESTARTED THANKS WINDOWS. it appears the program made it in time though
