i do actually think the gimmick of “keep strong town alive for rewards” is good but how it was done there was too rough
DRAMA MILL…
it was, admittedly, a really funny bit
Probably shouldn’t go on very long tho
Truth nuke though
So, the thing about being banned from Fortress of Lies is that—
I think the difference between the arso and extra nightvigs is just like a matter of how extreme they are, the arso is basically designed such that if it goes off the village will suddenly lose, and sudden losses always feel bad. Like if the 10 kills were an edgecase or an exploit or a result of complex factors like 3 modpeeks I think it’d be ehhhh fine but designing with the Expectation and Full knowledge that this’ll happen is a strange decision
i agree pretty much entirely with this. i just wish it was a full vig that kicked us more early or even like a gated arso that could do 5 kills at most. the 10 is just like. it feels frustrating asf for the people who have to go against it if it hits like 7+ people which i think is likelier than just about anyone gives it credit for
i think strat’ing it to a strong wolfplayer who will probably live to n5 isn’t really a huge burden. and there’s gonna be at least a significant amount of people who are capable of that in mu’s anniversary game
Ultimately I don’t know how it ever passed muster even at a glance lmao if someone proposed that in FAM chat I’d hit them
I wish the discourse around it could be a little more. open. just my opinion but I think a lot of the discussion around the role is shot down because people feel like its discrediting the wolves and/or hosts, which like, the hosts did fine on the aggregate and the wolves also were the better alignment on the aggregate so it’s not even like this is some major highway robbery, just an edge case that led to an unfun ending when town otherwise had a bit of momentum.
I just wish someone would be like. yeah we should’ve changed the role slightly. Saying that does not make the wolves win any less valid/deserved!
And that’s not to say you can’t do anything crazy in an anni game but if you’re making such a centralizing role you gotta think about how it typically plays out and surely you see that this is the modal outcome and notice it will make players extremely miserable
It doesn’t have to make the game wolfsided to feel bad
i’m thinking about curry now
damn you to hell, iamagummybear
also, like, people keep bringing up that it could have gotten 0 kills off if clara had randomly died as if that makes it better, and - it makes it less wolfsided, but I don’t think that makes it necessarily a better role? Like if clara had randomly died to a heroshot in ITAs on day 4, or worse day 5, the result wouldn’t have been ‘everyone feels totally fine about the game’, it would have been ‘instead of villagers being incredibly salty, wolves are incredibly salty’
(possibly she was angeled on some of those days, in which case substitute ‘died to a sudden flashwagon’)
we didn’t have an angel besides the time neil drew one that got interpreted as exclusively protecting against italians
we had a couple night angels but idt we ever targeted clara and none of them made it too long
Experience wise it sucks. Like genuinely it super, super sucks because yeah it feels like you got pants’d a bit. There are a ton of things that are workable in terms of numbers that I don’t like using because they just sort of suck on a more emotional level.
as a sidenote I had not realized until just now that day 2 started two hours late
where is the 10 kill arsonist from
