the UK isnât in the EU 
and they are generally more strict, but this doesnât necessarily translate to safer food. hereâs data from the Global Food Security Index:
In terms of quality and safety, the US food supply ranked 3rd globally and like 25 places higher than the UK as well as being higher than all EU countries except Denmark by a slim margin. Like with food dyes, I think I saw a recent example where the UK and EU banned one particular dye for solid sounding reason, but the alternative they use is banned in the US for also a solid sounding reasoning. Itâs probably more accurate to think of the differences in food safety standards in the US and the UK/EU as just that: differences. There are tradeoffs, compromises, and different priorities in both systems which has lead to food supplies that are generally safe with slightly varying risk profiles.

the takeaway everyone should get from this is that all our food is poisoned.
Im stsrting a commune where everyone has to shed all their possessions (to me) beforehand and weâll grow our own food so that its not poisoned by the government. Also everyone has to spend an hour in worship of me (bc i am The God sent down from space to get yall onto the ufo behind hale-bopp). Also youre not allowed to talk to any loved ones, bc they want u to get poisoned by Big Food, weâll love you instead

Thatâs their overall ranking which includes affordability, availability, and sustainability and adaption which are certainly valuable metrics to pay attention to when it comes to food security, but are all distinct from the safety of the food.
