ok so like I haven’t been following the discourse so maybe there’s something I’m missing, but it seems… straightforwardly fine to confirm that a character isn’t transgender? like - in my own writing, characters frequently have traits that are never explicitly stated or even particularly implied in the text, but that may nevertheless inform my writing to some degree. I don’t specifically know whether every single one of my characters is transgender, but there are absolutely characters where I know that they aren’t (also characters where I know that they are, but I’m not sure offhand whether I’ve written any characters where I know that they are transgender while not ever saying or implying that they are in fact transgender).

This is also true of many other traits! I don’t think I ever specifically stated in-text that Jonatan is gay (though I might be forgetting something), but that absolutely informed my understanding of how he was going about setting up his arranged-marriage-for-political-purposes; I never explicitly stated that Victòria’s mom was straight (and her dad isn’t in the picture, so it wasn’t likely to come up directly), but the fact that she is informed my understanding of Victòria’s understanding of romantic and sexual relationships; I honestly have no idea what Ysabet’s orientation is beyond ‘attracted to men sometimes’, she could easily be straight but she could also easily be bi or something. People absolutely have headcanons that contradict the explicit text of canon sometimes, so I guess if someone wants to headcanon something that contradicts any of that it’s not like I can send the headcanon police to stop them, but if someone was like ‘hey Arete, is Victòria’s mom gay?’ I would say ‘no’ and I think that’s fine! and if a creator happens to have written a work that was in some slight way informed by the fact that a character is cisgender, even if this is never textually stated, it seems fine for them to confirm that one way or the other
