30000th poster gets a cookie (cookie thread (Part 7)) (Part 10)

mind you i tip the workers and im not including that in the cost so its more like $30 for 4 subs than $20 but I view that as a separate thing than the cost of the items since i am directly supporting the workers with that

you also could not if you really wanted the cheapest cost

5.25 four footlongs

Expectation: I can walk into Subway, and purchase a footlong for $5.

Reality:

that is a silly expectation in 2025

that being said “download the app and use a coupon code 3 times to get a fourth sub free” is not exactly hard instructions to follow

you have the music tastes of a 50-something and the coupon clipping mindset of a 70-something

it’s competing with “make myself a sandwich”, and there are many more scenarios where I might want to purchase exactly 1 large sandwich for $5 than scenarios where I would want to purchase four sandwiches close enough to each other that the promotions haven’t expired yet

I wish i could say this to the customers at where I work

the free one expires in a year

there’s a not-that-expensive (though more expensive than $5/sandwich) sandwich shop that’s like a block from my apartment and I’m not sure whether I’ve been four times in the past year

if it was $5 for a foot-long sub I do think it genuinely starts to approach the price I would pay to put this together myself

the bread alone would be like $2 nowadays

so suffice to say I had not been going very often but now that I’m aware of this I will probably be doing so more often until the $6.99 coupon is gone or the ability for those to count towards the free one is patched

I feel like this is still a bit unnecessarily complex for, like, a sandwich I might buy once/twice a month at most.

i mean in my case the shop is a two-minute walk from where i work so

regardless i dont care literally at all if any of you use this or not

but if it’s something that sounds useful to you, now you know

next time i have a cool money-saving tip i will be sure to not share it because every individual person for whom it is not appealing will make sure that i know specifically how little i have helped them :joy_cat:

nah this woulda been hype in 2023 when i worked 1 minute from a subway

cool money-saving tip: having an IRL social life often involves expenses (eating out, transportation, activities with admissions fees, etc.) on the other hand, staying at home and spending all your time playing forum mafia is free (apart from internet, which realistically you’d be paying for anyway)

as a sidenote: the internet came on at like 12:30 AM, so I think possibly the company meant to say they’d have it fixed by 8:30 PM yesterday (and then underperformed by like 4 hours)
