aiui the model used for AI overview is a smaller and worse version of Gemini than the, like, state-of-the-art Gemini (which is basically a normal LLM with associated abilities and limitations, rather than being completely terrible at everything)

I was going to comment about it being bad for their branding, but I suppose they never call AI Overview Gemini at any point.
However it uses very similar visual design (as do all Google things) so I parse it as the same thing depsite that beingā¦ kinda obviously implausoble
