I am finally watching tv shows and experiencing now the “every show becomes a soap opera” phenomenon and I hate it
I enjoyed Princess Bride (1987) too
i feel like after season 1 stranger things turned into slop pretty quickly. i still watched all the seasons because of the fun music and characters and it went down easily but it wasn’t exactly highbrow.
online people complaining it ended badly and im just like “really what did you expect” from a fun mass consumer show. it’s like ordering domino’s and complaining there’s processed food on your pizza.
We loved The Diplomat season 1 and then L + ratio + you fell off. We watch The Bodyguard episode 1 and it seems so good and then immediately it’s nonsense. Blue's Clues
The (job title) cinematic universe
tbf later seasons didn’t help that none of the original child actors bothered getting acting lessons so the writers were clearly finding contrived ways to have them on screen for as little time as possible lmao
Ive heard that it was supposed to end in season 1, but then it blew up and the writers got paid big time to write more, so that’s why it turned out how it did
i feel a lot of pity for writers of big studios
being a hack writer but it’s mickey mouse behind the scope of the rifle aimed at you
Currently starting The Pitt
The only piece of television i can think off the top of my head that got better in sequels was Shrek, or at least Shrek 1 → Shrek 2. I don’t remember Shrek 3 and idk if there’s 4. Terminator 2 is also arguably better than 1, or at least it’s on par
But these are films. I can’t think of TV shows. Maybe an anime or two
shrek 2 is in my top 5 films its such a good film.
godfather 2 is also better than first (apparently, i gave up cuz it was too long)
Oh yeah, better or on par
ATLA season 2 and 3 are better than first imo cuz first is a lot of world building and stand alone episodes
theres 5 shrek movies i think
either the 3rd or fourth is touted to be awful and i don’t remember which
Not counting the puss in boot films, theres shrek 1 2 3, shrek forever after (4?) and shrek 5 is set to release in 2027 according to my google search
oh right then the 3rd was bad
Things used to excite me a lot more. Im sure part of it was because i was an innocent kid and now im not. I wonder if television is generally declining, and if it is, to what extent does that play part in my lack of enjoyment in television. It could be anywhere from 0% to 99.999% (repeating, of course), where i know at least a tiny part is me being more jaded
probably a lot of things
youre getting older and thus your want for quality is higher
youve seen a lot of things so nothing is really new
you’re more sad generally
