Summary

“You make everything sticklike”, or “you stick everything”. You could definitely phrase this more directly given “unpa” is a word that exists but that’s my best guess on why they’re using palisa here

Summary

But you could just say “sina unpa e ale” which means “you have sexual or marital relations with everything”. So I’m not sure what the translator is on. I think it goes one-word-to-one-word
I feel like even “sina palisa e ale” or just “sina palisa” would imply more “you’re attractive” than anything

I learned toki pona because I wanted to have the experience of being proficient in another language that 1. is easy as hell 2. I don’t feel embarrassed about speaking because nobody is a native speaker, and being fluent makes you a massive nerd

I’d say these goals were achieved but it didn’t exactly push me to be better about other langauge learning

Can you really say everything that you want by only using 120 words?

You can say most things, but you lose a lot of information and you have to think about how describe things. That’s supposed to be the philosophical point of the language — you can try communicating all of the same information you would in a sentence in English, but that would be really unwieldy and require a ton of words. So you have to remove everything nonessential

May how long did it take you to learn it? If its not a lot i might do it for fun too

Like, if you want to say “I’m jealous” in English, that carries a lot of implications and baggage in just two words, and the person you’re talking to might get something different out of it. In toki pona, you have to decide “what the feeling of jealousy means to you” and describe it, you have to go for the equivalent of “I feel bad because she has something and I don’t”

A day to be studying-familiar, then I just read a lot of stuff in the Discord server/spoke it with my friends while pulling up a wordlist when I forgot something

Memorising words is obviously a mild chore and my memory is bad but I know most of ‘em from speaking
