My manager scheduled me 3 shifts this week, which makes me happy. Anyway, I’m of the opinion that they scheduled me 3 weeks because of the crabragoons because another employee lost shifts and I gained shifts lol they only work one day
It appears my coworker got outplayed
when you wanna post something again but you’re on self imposed cooldown
ahhhh I remember that
have you talked about doping yet?
yes
wow i just finished super danganronpa another 2: the moon of hope and the sun of despair (or whatever) and
0. I almost didn’t finish it but didn’t realize until i started looking things up and was like “hey i didn’t see that part”. I just kind of assumed it was over
- Peak???
(kinda spoilers below)
Summary
- I would like to meet the people who said that the series is different from mainline formula?? Like obviously there’s case 3, some (admittedly kind of big) structural changes, it’s generally darker (shoutout kinjo) and the lore/themes differ but both games are very much a remix of DR 1/2 and like. intentionally so??
- Yuki trans??? (I mean the subtext is almost certainly there but if you ignore epilogue ambiguity it seems that he is)
- What happened to the second izuru kamakura that was mentioned in another despair academy’s case 6
- Ok I do think that the first killer was just. extremely forgettable but besides that I have strong feelings about eeverybody (besides mikado surprisingly enough but he has plot relevance, kind of teruya too but I didn’t really care about in him the first game)
- I feel like the trial gameplay was the most “throw something pretty difficult at you but you can use skills to make it significantly easier” out of them all. (I sucked at the climax inference or whatever they called it this game until i got the skill that made it picture matching)
- Too many free time events I think? I mean the last half not having any probably affected that but i was able to get close to everybody i wanted to (besides syobai & teruya but they weren’t responding at first)
- nikei got me so hard in chapter 4 tbhhh i should have known but I didn’t
- Sora being Akane (or related to her; I had half a mind she was akane’s girlfriend for a good part of it, don’t ask) was quite predictable (but that feels intentional)
- Syobai <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
- I did think that mikado in the chapter zero flashback was supposed to look like syobai and that was going to be a whole thing like his real name was something different and they switched appearences
- It was kind of silly that I was expected to know characters’ last names from DRA1 for a good bit of it like i’m sorry but no. (Just in like case 6 and beyond, I got everything within the islands)
- I’m honestly surprised they didn’t reveal yuki being connected to utsuro earlier?? like i saw the island was called utsuroshima & then teruya & rei come in and they just don’t bring it up (i mean memory loss but still)
- Yeah it is kind of cringe that the murders are ~all because of void (and they didn’t even have one where a void was killed smh.)
- as long as the trial 6 infodump was at least we didn’t have to “learn” about the greatest tragedy yadda yadda yadda again
- The chapter 2 murder was terrifying tbh. Chapter 3 almost reached that high but then it didn’t.
- Chapter 5 is kind of stupid because it is unsolveable I think?? like there’s probably not enough evidence anywhere to figure it out.
- monocrow was kind of boring & I didn’t care for the subplot where he was glitching out except why was he monokuma?
- I know that like being a fanwork it probably should keep in its place but i’m surprised there was nothing more than namedrops of mainline
- I am kind of conflicted about the uh. 7 of them. not being ultimate students because on the one hand… it’s kind of disappointing on the other it does like huge things for yuri’s character (& it’s necessary to fit in with the lore like. at all.)
- Smh I don’t know why they spent so much time talking about it being a recreation when it’s not really? I missed that he was talking gender divide as in the bathrooms and thought it was just “yeah danganronpa is weird about gender” and then the rest goes kind of weird but like… case 4 & 5 are both heavily DR1 coded. And i can’t imagine how case 3 was supposed to go. or be similar to anything. And then at the same time the whole setup is very DR2 coded… islands… the party… uh that’s about it besides the opening sora/yuki scene.
- Akane’s character feels kind of confusing initially because she’s conflicted at the end of the first game and then like… idk it seems like they’re going for a “she’s becoming independent but also still likes utsuro” kinda thing
- There was surely a better way of dealing with Sora besides making her an AI. I assume.
- I know it’s probably not actually good but i don’t know if i’d’ve minded if people survived. I actually liked it in the original game.
- Something felt weird about the monomono machine and i don’t know what.
- THey were quite strict with the letter grades but it’s infinitely better than “you failed more than once no coins for you” with DRA1’s boss battles.
- i hate flappy bird minigame :< (I mean i support the continual innovation but that was not it)
- I would not have gotten the memory game if i didn’t cheat (in the later sections). 30 seconds to figure out the pairs you need & memorize them (I assume in order/?? never checked)
- That PoV switch was great
massive spoilers for both dra and sdra2
Summary
tbf rei does say something like “so we finally meet.” sure they could’ve said more in that moment but it would’ve been lost on the non-voids and they were kinda busy
i think this is by design. you literally can’t know what happened behind those closed doors, even iroha doesn’t know what actually happened, and she does not do herself any favors as a result. it seems like the design philosophy was if they could solve it but didn’t they’d look stupid. but they jumped to conclusions that made them look stupid anyway so. idk i like the previous two cases better.
i think the intent was “the voids do as good of a recreation of the dra1 cases as they can.” this does imply that iroha was supposed to be the ayame (or knowing mikado, possibly the kizuna), emma was supposed to be the kinji, and nikei was supposed to be the satsuki, and i’m not really sure how those would’ve or could’ve gone. either way, it doesn’t matter, as emma is forced to improvise to avoid breaking the rules (though it is a little weird that she didn’t even try to mimic ayame, though i guess they both did a wounded gazelle esque gambit), kanade beats the voids to the punch in chapter 3, and nikei just goes full heel and does his own thing in chapter 4. ironically, the best recreation is chapter 5, where the case is rigged from the start.
i think the “they all died for real actually” seems like a bit of an asspull but i assume it comes from the same place in linuj’s brain that… basically everything involving the chapter 3 case came from. he loves making characters suffer. (also it’s not lost on me that the first four people to go in dra all have athletic talents i know he got bullied in school)
anyway consume more danganronpa fanworks they’re peak
tbh I haven’t seen that many (games) that are completed (i searched on itch.io)
I tried project eden’s garden but not for me (takes too much after v3 / fan ideas i’m not a big fan of & also trials run TERRIBLY on my potato computer)
I played lapse and that was pretty good
I know kill/cure dropped something recently
oh fangans love their protracted release schedule
i’m curious as to how p:eg takes so much after v3, i don’t see it
lapse got too weird for me at the end
kill/cure prologue is fine but it’s just that. a prologue. don’t expect much you can’t get from just watching a playthrough
there are also some good video series that are out there (note: also usually not completed)
im on chap 6 of sda2 rn, its sooooooooooooooo good
I mean mmm
ok mostly the trial mechanics (I will never forgive them for changing from left click to right click because you just. cannot hold space and press right click on my computer) but i think there was something else. mmm. Oh yeah I’m not a huge fan of the way that they went with the talents overall; they felt more like jobs than hobbies (not really a v3 thing I guess?) OH yeah I don’t like the outside area. Like DR2 being completely outside was good but it just kind of isn’t good for the tension to have even a fake area like that. The emotion thing from the trials is a pretty direct parallel to v3 (but far better because it’s neither required nor stupid. The like “look at all the items thing” is also a direct v3-only thing (I tend to prefer the original where it pings all of them over detective vision)
(I have only played the prologue so far so it might just be that things are sticking out more)
(The other things I don’t really like are having the traditional antagonist as the protaganist (and I don’t even think they executed on that super well in the prologue, it seems to kind of fade away for a while but do not quote me on that) and the general like “more realistic” vibe.)
My friend is very strongly recommending I play the game “of the Devil”
i think the “more realistic” vibe is an intentional design choice, that’s not going away
i do like chapter 1 better than the prologue largely because it makes more characters actual characters (though this will pretty much always be the case due to the limitations of the prologue as a concept)
i’ve heard decent things of it, but never played
it seems to be a similar game to ace attorney
Yeah I mean it being more realistic is definitely a thing it is going for it’s just not what i prefer. Wouldn’t be a dealbreaker but kind of makes me want to not push through the trial’s poor performance (I had to time my shots in advance, usually requiring a couple of run-throughs especially with the text moving so much) at least for now
chapter 1’s trial is longer so yeah that might be a problem
i just accepted my shitty laptop wasn’t gonna be able to run it and watched a playthrough
