…are paintings supposed to be gendered?

People like to claim they are. According to people doing this on Tumblr they kind of are but not super strongly. The idea is to test the claim

i mean there are definitely some artstyles that you can identify the gender of the artist with an extremely high degree of accuracy

(I can usually tell by subject matter, i.e. women painted in a sexual context are usually by men, but not by style)

that being said my ability to do so is definitely not going to hold up well when examining historical fine art

@tutuu My girlfriend read to me a YouTube comment about somebody in an intro CS class who uses Gemini, but hteir Gemini instance will spiral and threaten to delete itself if you don’t call it “babygirl” in every prompt. Thoughts?

“The greatest failure excels at failure, to the point where they fail at failing (consistently).”

The recent talk with Zug has made me think: What can I do with percentages? For starters, I won’t support any HP systems. That’s for sure. Keeping track of those numbers is just a pain for me to remember. Instead, I am thinking of applying it onto actions themselves.

Boring Monologue

I always love the concept of “weak” or “useless” actions, because they adhere to my modus operandi of “tempt the players to use their abilities, despite the -FMPOV- fact that playing without them is more beneficial”.

For instance, a Visitor’s action can be proven, but “a proven ability does not always directly imply a proven alignment”. (Something that some among us seem to disagree with, if not with their words, then through their actions.)

Ultimately, the game of Mafia/Werewolf is that of social deduction and deception. Power roles are merely add-ons to enhance the experience, but -IMO- should never replace the basic cores.

Yet, with so many useful tools (e.g., Alignment Cop, Doctor, Vigilante) a good setup designer would have to pay careful attention as to balance their creation –not according to what they think sounds reasonable “in general”, but according to the site it will be played on.

In FoL, there is no way an ungated Alignment Cop will pass any review. Not without some weird shenanigans on the core mechanics, like closed flipless. The average player on this site are so competent, that giving them more tools will likely just give less favorable experiences.

So instead of increasing the powers, I have to focus on decreasing them. All while keeping them “unique”. (Because I don’t like reusing my old setups. If I have seen it before, then I don’t want to see it again. Barring a handful exceptions, my setups are meant to be one-trick ponies.)

The idea I have in mind is to take a perfectly normal setup, and break every power role in it into percentages. Alignment Cop effectively becomes Random Cop. Doctor effectively becomes Multi-Doctor with lesser odds of succeeding a heal. Roleblockers can fail at causing others’ actions to fail.

The aforementioned ideas are merely examples; the actual roles can (and will) be expanded in my free time. But this is a “fun” idea I have in mind at the moment. I doubt this idea will bear any immediate fruit though, because even if I were to magically make a setup based on this idea right now, then the review will probably be done in 2028. (My backlog is still full, and even those games are somewhat… lackluster, as of my latest tastes.)
