aaand now we’re on transformers. Transformers Headmasters, Super God Masterforce (real name) and Victory have. very few releases outside of japan, which is something that appears to be the case for alot of japanese transformers media iirc. i have, naturally, a majority of those releases. The first one is probably the strangest because its a release simply titled “Transformers: Takara” which is why i so often refer to it as just transformers takara. I got that vhs. My fucking library had it. I got it out so often that when my library stopped doing vhs tapes they just went “you can keep it”. See sample below.
This is a collection of 6 Headmasters episodes. The first six headmasters episodes. You know. Them introducing the series. The first half of the episodes are literally just the introductory plot. Of the headmasters. WHY THE FUCK IS IT JUST CALLED “TRANSFORMERS TAKARA”. THE GUY ON THE COVER? HE’S FROM VICTORY. HE DOES NOT SHOW UP FOR 82 EPISODES AND TWO MORE SERIES. HE IS COMPLETELY UNRELATED TO THIS STORY.
After the 6th episode they literally show an excerpt of the 7th episode by the way. They do a Next Time. THIS IS THE ONLY FUCKING VHS RELEASE THE ONLY OTHER TAKARA RELEASES ARE THE FULL FUCKING SHOW AT ONCE WHAT THE FUCK WAS THEPOINT OF THIS RELEASE WHO DECIDED THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA. you know what else they did??? YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE THEY DID??? they replaced the episode intro with the one from victory. you know. the one in 82 episodes and 2 series. 2 series have to complete before I will hear that intro again. That intro, naturally, says the word “Victory” constantly. You know. the name of the series its from. And oh look it has all the characters from victory everywhere and NOEN OF HTEME FUCKING SHOW UP IN HEADMASTERS EVER WHY DID THEY DO THIS!!! I DID NOT GET VICTORY UNTIL SOME TIME AFTER HEADMASTERS. It cost 30 2010 pounds. You know how fucking much 30 pounds was worth in 2010. Thats like. a yacht. You wanna know how much this shit costs now. well lmao good luck fucking FINDING IT IN THE FIRST PLACE IT IS LIKE NOWHERE NOW. Oh also fun fact. the dvd collection has fan commentary for the first 3 episodes explaining why the fucking voice acting sucks. I’m pretty sure it also says it in the pamphlet that comes with it. I’m pretty sure the target audience is like transformers super nerds and i just grew up on this.
