8-Ball FM - Night 1 (7/8)

It’s not about emotions, just about the way you’re treating your wolfreads & expecting townreads that’s frustrating

The underlined says it. Peum gave town the fighting chance. (I think that was their name? Idr) I can choose to not step on anyone’s toes and fold and let myself get walked over or I can choose to put up a fight

Are u afraid of getting manipulated
I have asked this just to see where players stand

No

Right, but there is a middle ground

I think the way you’ve been acting like it’s everybody else’s fault that you’re being wolfread is unreasonable

Anyway this doesn’t have to be a struggle session about my thoughts on your play, I’ll get to that later. Why do you think MKP is towny besides purity? I’ve seen lots of people claim MKP purity when he’s wolf lol

Why is it frustrating? I don’t believe I’ve insulted or disparaged people for not townreading me. I have scumread people for not townreading me because I was suspicious of it. Did you parse some of my posts as insulting, or is it the fact that I’m scumreading people (including you) is what’s frustrating to you?

99.9% opposed to this but i’m open to hear reasons

I don’t agree that I’m blaming people, if that’s what you mean. I don’t hold it against anyone that they are wrongly suspecting me of being mafia. I was suspicious that it’s wolfy for people to scumread me. If I’m wrong and I did in fact blame someone (like, out of the game), could you tell me where?

I think it’s warping your perspective on the game; I think your expectations for why I should be townreading you were completely unreasonable, and I don’t like being held to unreasonable expectations; I think your claims that “I never act this strange and audacious as wolf” when you acted like this in a game where we wolfed together, the 24-hour Popcorn are bizarre; I think you expect me to behave in a way that serves you and are failing to model me as a human being who gets to have her own thoughts

Maybe. I can take this post and show it back to everyone who has suspected me this game. Ultimately, if me scumreading people is what’s causing them frustration, and if that’s reasonable, am I not fully in reason to be frustrated to be scumread? If other people get this privilege, I should too, yea? I don’t want to devolve the game into endless frustration, though. I’m just making a read. It could be wrong. You (and others) have also made reads that I’m mafia, burying me repeatedly. It could be wrong. You don’t know that yet (if you’re town). The situations are kinda symmetrical, fmpov. I don’t think the onus is entirely on me for us to win. I’m not absolving myself from responsibility either.

I’m just saying that I don’t think the expectation that I should never be allowed to make a (potentially) wrong scumread is reasonable, because that might frustrate people, but other people should be allowed to make a (potentially) wrong scumread on me without the same feedback

I’m not upset because you said something in a too-mean way, I wouldn’t hold it against you if you said these things and I thought you were right. I just think that, if you are town, you are behaving unreasonably by blaming everybody else in the game for not locktowning you or being convinced by you

Again, we don’t need to be talking about this, which I say for the sake of sounding like somebody who is not having an argument for no reason; I am actually having this argument because I think it will be revealing re: alignments, but I wasn’t admitting that before

I don’t agree with the word “blame”. Maybe we have different definitions of the word. I associate the word “blame” with like an emotional action. I wasn’t expressing emotion at people when I posted those posts, I was trying to logically analyze and that was my result. I don’t think I’ve been scummy. People are free to disagree, I am also free to disagree with their disagree

I think we have different understandings of “things that are upsetting”. I am, like, quite literally annoyed because I think your opinions are wrong, not because you’re expressing them too-emotionally or the like. I just think your opinions express an underlying worldview that makes me upset

Like I don’t broadly think “if somebody expresses an opinion calmly and not meanly, I can’t be upset with them” is true

Very well. We have the opposite views here, yes

Being convincing isn’t about shouting as loudly as possible and pinging everybody in the lobby. I think everybody should have a level of humility about their opinions; I think people should let their explanations and cases speak for themselves; I think the way you’re playing mafia by trying to shout louder than everybody else in the room is completely counter to what I view as desirable and well-formed gameplay; I think that if everybody played like you, the game would degenerate into what I get playing invitationals on Discord Mafia, which I hate terribly; I think that the way town wins is by people being able to talk to each other as equals to have a discussion with, not people to be advertised to; I think that people should always strive to express an appropriate level of room for error with their opinions, and while I think that confidence can often be appropriate, confidence that is repeatedly rescinded is disagreeable to me

The way you play like a mobile game ad is something I think you think is strategically optimal. I find it both strategically suboptimal and frustrating
