Gauss’s lemma states that any polynomial with a property over the rational numbers will have this property over the integers.

i have slight beef with this clue. it’s true. i got this bonus part. but like.

the interesting part of gauss’s lemma is not that irreducible polynomials over the rational numbers are irreducible over the integers. this follows from thinking about it for like two seconds

the interesting part of gauss’s lemma is that it’s an iff, that irreducible polynomials over the integers are necessarily irreducible over the rationals. phrase it that way!

it’s such a minor gripe to have but i will have it
