n=1, 1x3=3+1, 4/2=2?

keep doing it

incidentally you’ll find that 2/2 = 1

oh i misread like a walnut

look i havent eaten anything but toast in the past…

i should really eat something other then toast hours

i thought it was “is there anything that could reach 1, which seemed” super simple, but then i misread 1 as 2 mentally and it went downhill from there

did i ever tell you i’m bad at math

(anyway the joke is that despite being a simple seeming problem it’s unsolved and would probably require at minimum a new field of math to make headway)

i mean infinite theoretical numbers is more then 20

so unless you can find something that works in a few turns for every number, its gonna take a while

proving it positively or negatively requires dealing with infinities. which is always fun

you can prove that if it ever goes to a power of 2 that decays to 1. but if it was that easy it wouldn’t be unsolved

it’s commonly done in cs classes. so if it broke for like. 147 we’d know by now. probably.

stupid ai taking over human jobs of counting the same numbers millions of times to make proof

as the poll indicates no is my guess but it’s presumably very difficult if not currently impossible to prove

have we tried 73131291959182513691 yet??

you should’ve seen how upset the math community got when people used computers to prove the four color theorem

noooo math is about human thinking you can’t just plug it into a computer noooo

mathematicians plugging in literally every possible case for the four-color theorem

what’s the thing for (1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9)² again
