I define words as real if they could be used in scrabble. Who the fuck wouldn’t challenge allylic in scramble?

methods of chromatography tierlist (if you toss up a specific form of chromatography you’re actually guaranteed never to make it past the pearly gates)

WHAT. No. Chromatography specific methtods <3 ion exchange!!!

tossup on gas chromatography why don’t you toss up the gasses from my farts. why don’t you toss up some grass

GC was the easiest lab ever and we got to use a very expensive needle. Fuck you

did you perhaps introduce the sample via syringe through a rubber septum

did you use a thermal conductivity detector or flame ionization (more sensitive to hydrocarbons in the analyte)

Yeah and all the wording inthe instruction document was weirdly suggestive

did you use a mass spectrometer as the detector? if not, i’m afraid your gas chromatography lab wasn’t quite the gold standard in forensic analysis of mixtures

Thermal conductivity babyyyy

did you purge it properly or did you get ghost peaks

the electron capture variant of gas chromatography often uses nickel-63 beta radiation apparently (giving my students radiation poisoning in the lab)

We purged it properly. Sometimes we fucked up and got no peaks but that was the GC being kind of weird and spotty generally

did you use column packing or an adsorbed liquid as the stationary phase
