BOTC/BOTF Discussion Thread 2

People don’t learn their character. (And Depending on the script/ST, they won’t know their alligment, either.)
Above winning the game, people need to figure out their characters based on the prompts/information the ST gives them.

It can be a fun puzzle with experienced players and the right script.

oh sorta like amesiac

i don’t think I’d do well on it I’m not experienced at all past just remembering charactera

Amnesiac can be anything.
in blind, you can be only characters from the script. (It usually doesn’t include Amne, cause it’s abilit too “on the nose” to figure out, you are an Amne or not.)

if no one knows they are evil how can any reads get made in the day phase i dont get it

The game is typically played in shortform, which offsets most of the worry about not knowing your alignment for a day or two in practice. Certain bouts of information might confirm your own alignment to yourself, like if you learned a “2” without context you’re still definitely a Townsfolk because evils just don’t learn that sort of information, etcetera. Whereas if you first woke up N2 with instructions to choose a player… you’d have concerns, which might lead you to lie about your information, and thus opens the puzzle.
