The implication is O.kazo’s incorrect or lying one way or another, since Kyubey’s already confirmed Magician as such — Zug’s role was already openly divulged by implication, which strictly suggests w!O.kazo wasn’t ahead of the curve to notice this information… since in such a case it’d be a deliberate ploy. Unless v!O.kazo made a joke, it seems likely to envision the only variant worlds wherein they’re town is if Zug were the Spy; and we just imagine the storytellers showed a whatever Townsfolk role specifically to make O.kazo look so suspicious as possible. (Don’t think this bears fruit anymore.) In which case Zug is still evil…
If the aim were for w!O.kazo to arrange Zug to appear as a red herring, claiming to see a Demon just seems like the predictable choice; there’s a niche case for Zug being the Lleech host, with this lie supposed to frame him as such; “we’re both evil, he’s a Minion, so you can leave him alone and Demon hunt” sorta thing. I don’t see how O.kazo would know this information though, unless Hippo were evil or it was a lucky guess.
Maybe w!O.kazo could’ve beheld Zug as the Politician, although I’m unsure of the connotations of such a world.

Suspects can claim power roles too. You can gripe about it in hindsight, which you should because it ensures correction for the future, but only ever executing spent roles isn’t usually conductive for a win.

I think maybe this is a Kiiruma and Zug thunderdome. Who do we trust more from this?
Or could it be that maybe the counterclockwise direction didn’t go as intended if Zug would be lying?

the problem with the magician fakeclaim is that everyone knew it was implausible, not just evils
so all it really did was damage your credibility

Mild correction: Jake was the Barista who heard a Widow ping. It’s effectively the same conclusion but that’s why it was so much less believable.
