paragraph on learning and limits

I believe that if there’s nothing holding you back from achieving something. Money, physical location, social pressure, disability or whatever or you really do put alot of effort and you still can’t seem to learn anything, then yeah.

And you are right, there are some things that does feel like that allegory, more or less that you’d fall to your doom depending on the subject at hand.

But, everyone can learn, that’s what I think.

It’s just, some skills require alot of time, motivation and patience. I am having setback with drawings because I can’t find the motivation

youre right
motivation is a big thing for me too, i get you

I am on a mission to learn 2 languages in this world.

I believe I know at least A2 French and with more practice, I can become intermediate at it.

But sometimes it is really boring for me to keep at it because I would stay in front of a screen on a site dedicated to language learning and when I would be put to translate sentences and I FORGET TO PUT A DEFINITIVE ARTICLE, I would have to translate an entire phrase from 0 again.

And it also takes a long long long time. If I finish 5 chapters DAILY, I would finish the course in 3 months.

languages are hard

The trick behind language learning is to look at the rules from time to time and then translate some phrases. Because the more you translate and become familiar with phrases and words, the more it becomes part of your intuition.

I’ve actually learnt English by watching alot of youtube videos, I used google translate from time to time to translate some words and then I practiced… actually writting English! Just like I am doing now.

If you’d try every day to write a diary in french with google translate. Do the reading, trying to write yourself in bad french and then doing corrections when neccessary. That will help quite alot.

among us

Though of course, you can’t just do skip jumps through learning loops while trying to learn a skill because then you’d remain with nothing. So it does require the patience and motivation to keep going.

[im listening I just don’t have anything to add. I don’t know much about language learning]

We’re going to have to start tracking glitchless separately, because the timer paused partway through this run and just never started counting again.

short guide for what roles are on my shit list (and should be on yours too!):

extreme shitty tier:
town sensor (you cannot optimize this to be interesting)
town hider (exceptionally variable depending on who rands it. Having a role that is either gamebreaking or useless depending on who rands it is not a good idea usually)
mafia arsonist [CLOSED NON-MASH] (without a way to know of its existence it’s the highest salt score role on the planet outside of genuinely bastard mech)
mafia godfather (minimal reason to include in a setup, either open or closed. If it is required in a game, you have fucked up and this role will not save your game)
mafia claim vigilante (I don’t care how many times people say the answer is to not claim. You’re fucking stupid for making your anti-claim…kp for some reason. Notably, this mechanic works well in setups whose goal is to incentivize village fakeclaiming)
[any alignment] flip tampering [CLOSED] (self-explanatory)

ok but why:
town guilt vigilante (EXTREME judicious behavior with this one. It can be a good balancing factor but is dogshit if not handled perfectly)
town cop [NON-MASH] (you know why)
town modet (this role has highly variable power. you need to be extremely judicious when considering whether to put it in a setup)
town roleblocker [LOW POWER VANILLA] (this role is hilariously swingy in these kinds of games in a bad way. Just run jailkeeper milord it has counterplay)
mafia spankvig (if you get a reputation for including this role in your games, you are getting a reputation for punishing people for playing the game. just put a postcap I s2g)
mafia lost wolf (self-explanatory)
[any alignment] sorcerer (it is a one-trick pony that only works in one setup)
[any alignment] vanillarizer (this is kp without any of the fun that comes with kp)

fuck it we ball (don’t make the entire setup these roles, but including a few is a good idea for RM games):
med-high salt score roles, such as town loverizer
any role with high swing depending on who rands it
roles with a high skill factor impact as long as that impact doesn’t directly translate to kill power
joats
villagery mafia roles
scummy villager roles

A lot of mafia design conventions suck
A lot of people’s takes on balance suck

Reality is that the only things worth balancing in setups are kill differential, clears number, salt score, and setup objective
Most roles that aren’t good inclusions tend to violate one of these in one direction or another. If they don’t and they still are on the list, then they are truly unholy abominations

Your objective as a designer is to take an idea that you like and take it to fruition
Aforementioned things worth balancing around are the main cogs you need to worry about
