Investment and time to play are not actually all that correlated

That one was a miss.

Secondary miss, though pretty much all Catcord games did this at the time.

Should’ve explained this to them with some flavor document.

I stand by this change.

This was funny. I should bring this back as a 1x 3P ability.

That was an intentional choice: I wanted to lend gravitas to moving people from the Circle of the Living to the Circle of the Dead, especially since that’s how mafia and cult’s victory would be decided, and I didn’t want the target selections to be biased by alignment. A 3P who leaves the game after reviving a set number of people fulfills that requirement quite well.

Being able to see inside other people’s channels is an ability that’s neat in concept but bad in practice. Don’t do this, kids.

I don’t think this is inherently a bad idea, especially given how mafia had a will forger. Ritual Mafia did it quite well, even if it got quite annoying at times.

See my previous point. Maybe should’ve made this an x-use ability, but ¯\(ツ)/¯.

Ok, that one was a bit broken.

5x voters are fun.

The intent was for them to pose as a neutral entity that used the game’s design and information against town, justifying the smaller mafia and cult through their influence. Probably should’ve just given them near-infinite power outright, but I hadn’t thought about breaking the rules of mafia quite yet.

In short, Circle Mafia was a fun experiment that I learned a lot from.

misleading, most games didn’t have cults in general. there were a few in the early days that could recruit from mafia but. those days were long gone by this point

I thought this was the era of multiball and cults and chicanery.
Maybe I’m confusing it with the other circut?

if the other circuit is the one i’m thinking of then i don’t think it ever stopped having an age of multiball and cults and chicanery. there’s a reason i stayed away

it also somehow had even more slankers

I’m so jealous of people who have the ability to make genuinely wildly bad mafia games. I’m too perfectionistic and can only make tame bad mafia games, which are much worse

we were talking about a game recently where a 3p faction won (ending the game) by answering a trivia question

The strategy is to just swing really hard and fall over from the weight of your swing.

Start with a theme. Do you want players to have to manage chaos? Have great freedom? Make secret deals and alliances behind each other’s backs?
From there, establish that you have an antagonistic group.
Then figure out how to translate your theme into gameplay elements.
