Cookie Thread Act 3: The Cookie Strikes Back

yeah it doesn’t make sense to say “oh i want a functioning app!” when it’s an assignment that people aren’t going to actually use
there’s plenty of assignments that deliberately simplify things if it isn’t helpful to have students write everything

Would sound like a good strategy if you’re in need of employees. Help students graduate and then hire them

exactly!!!

it’s not a real app. it’s a student project! i’m not selling an app! you aren’t actually going to use my app! if you wanted me to show knowledge of databases just say so!

In other news, I have an american friend that went to an IT uni, his class was full of students that barely even knew how to code despite being late into the uni years.

How is that even possible?

legit at most 5-15% of things you learn in uni will be even remotely useful

csv stands for comma seperated values
it’s a text file with a different extension

I thought techunis are meant to give you practice and are also constantly changing. Who is even designing these classes, incompetent politicians?

Professors who have never had a job in the industry or who only worked like 20 years ago

Like some classes are REALLY outdated, even when the professor is teaching it (and even more once you finish uni)

csvs can be opened in pretty much any spreadsheets app

however what I used them for is :joy_cat:

Defeats the purpose if you don’t hire teachers that know how to program. Is this for real?

also so true!

we had to learn history of tech related stuff. like the history of fonts, printers. history of some tech companies and their contributions like microsoft, or previous iterations of software. and then asked questions about them at the exam. history!!!

The reasons the teachers get hired is for research, teaching is a secondary thing that most of them hate doing

I’m not entirely sure how this works, but I happen to know of a certain MMORPG that I am reverse engineering. And pretty much the NPCs, Dialogues, Values are placed in a format accessible to google spreadsheet.

Is this any relevant? Is this like csv? Big chance I don’t know what I am talking about.

Isn’t this like hiring a teacher to teach to medical students about heart medicine, but the teacher isn’t even a medic in the first place?
