if AI becomes smart enough to truly 100% emulate a human consciousness, then thereād be no āvotingā anymore they would genuinely just rule us. So unless it hit that point I wouldnt give it rights

If I have free will, then IMO itād make sense that (since free will is very central to oneās experience of consciousness), for all beings who have a high level of consciousness to also have free will.
AI doesnāt have free will, so by that logic it canāt be conscious.
And if I donāt have free will, my vote as to whether AI should have rights isnāt something I have the ability to change, so itās not useful for me to consider that possibility.
