if AI becomes smart enough to truly 100% emulate a human consciousness, then there’d be no ā€œvotingā€ anymore they would genuinely just rule us. So unless it hit that point I wouldnt give it rights

If I have free will, then IMO it’d make sense that (since free will is very central to one’s experience of consciousness), for all beings who have a high level of consciousness to also have free will.

AI doesn’t have free will, so by that logic it can’t be conscious.


And if I don’t have free will, my vote as to whether AI should have rights isn’t something I have the ability to change, so it’s not useful for me to consider that possibility.
