vanilla ice cream is up there, but vanilla cake is unbeaten. Top 1 cake flavor regardless of ingredient quality except in the more extreme cases (high quality chocolate, lemon, etc. cake does beat low tier vanilla but i’d argue any other case vanilla solos)

I really don’t think chocolate ice cream is all it’s cracked up to be, even at higher tiers. Feels like less than the sum of its parts.
High-quality strawberry ice cream clears by comical margins.

I’ve never had a strawberry ice cream I really liked… people keep saying that bad strawberry is gross and good strawberry is great, but every strawberry I’ve ever had has been sickening-to-mediocre.
That being said, because I’ve never had good strawberry, I don’t really order strawberry from a high-quality place when I could instead just have a flavour I know I’ll love.
What I have to do is have a strawberry enjoyer show me an exact instance of strawberry they say is “the good stuff” so that I can determine whether I don’t like strawberry or whether my strawberry has been bad.

High-quality chocolate ice cream is really good… it’s better than the sum of its parts IMO… chocolate has a “heaviness” to it, the flavour lingers in your mouth and dries it out a bit, even if it’s really good. Chocolate ice cream doesn’t do that nearly as much, because it’s ice cream. So it can have more moisture, more meltiness, while also tasting like really good chocolate
