honestly i think there is genuine value in wanting your children to carry on your historical traditions and wanting them to have a spouse who comes from that same background seems inherently valid in a way that doesn’t seem inherently racist to me

I mean I don’t even think that’s really all that related because I suspect this would almost certainly still be true were gummy dating like the one singular white guy at a school in India

or the one pakistani guy at a school in india

or the one black guy at a school in india

or the one asian guy at a school in india

so like, sure, but also no?

it’s certainly possible to escalate that to racism and I would obviously not agree with ostracizing a person over it

but like I think having a desire like that in the first place is pretty distinct from racism as a baseline

No, I agree with this, but at some point, it becomes too generalizing/racist, I think, and we are er definitely past that

For context, when I told my dad I liked a white guy, his face er fell and then he hopefully asked if I was dating a Jewish person :skull: (I am not)
