The only webcomic that has both a movie and a book I partially recommend is Omniscient Reader. Partially not because it has some unredeeming quality but because I only read 20 episodes/300ep, but who knows maybe it’s critically acclaimed for good reasons.

a basic synopsis is that it’s a book that takes place in two timezones: 1809 and “the present”
both timezones take place in the same place and never leave, the Coverly Mansion, specifically in the learning room. the “present” people are trying to uncover what happened in 1809
