Gonna attempt to rationalize my view of Mashes by saying:
- half of my autism article was a thinly veiled vent about how difficult mashes are for me
- They feel like doing actual research - which is the fun part when I do find them fun
No one can go to an archive and sit down and read every single document systemically - nor would that be proper. What we do here is less like a normal game where we’re reading a mystery novel and we can recall things from earlier we didn’t think on much or go back and reread the portions that grow in value in hindsight…
We are more aptly playing roulette with document snippets. I enter the thread and I see Selkie. Selkie is fine when I see them.
I come back the next day and focus on the creature thesis, and then I see people say selkie bad for reasons that happened well outside the scope of any of the documents I’ve read.
Now Selkie is here and I don’t have reasons to townread them I just have to measure whether the weight of those people day 2 outweighs my gut day 1 - and what I am leaning on is that I should take neither into great account since my gut hasn’t been good this game and I don’t have the energy to hunt down the meaning of those comments and Selkie’s day 2 relative to just trying to maintain my own thread position and see if anything speaks to me.
