Event Announcement

Dear Valued Citizen,

Please note that the FoL Council is hosting an event today.

Oh no! We’ve been experiencing unusual levels of some forms of electromagnetic radiation! We need your help to measure the wavelengths of the various types of radiation in order to determine how to effectively keep our colony safe. All necessary equipment will be provided by the Ministry of Health.

You are invited to participate in:

Modified Wavelength
Players: Up to 8, must be an even number
Chance of Death: None
Mobile-friendly: Yes
Duration: 30 - 45 minutes
Discord Access: Not required
Other Notes: N/A

How to Play:

Two players will be selected as the Mission Supervisors. The Mission Supervisors will draft the players for each team.

The game will be played over a series of four rounds. In each round, one player from each team will be selected as the Radiation Technician. All players will be informed of the round’s Category, while the Radiation Technicians will each be privately informed of a randomly selected number between 1 and 21. (Each round, both teams will receive the same number.)

The Radiation Technicians will provide a clue based on the category to try to get their team to guess the number. The hosts reserve the right to reject clues that are trying to “game” the restrictions.

Each team will then have up to 5 minutes to try to guess the number. The two teams will each have separate PMs to receive and discuss their clues – you will not see the other team’s clue until the round is over.

If a team guesses the exact number, they get 4 points. If they are off by 1, they get 3 points. If they are off by 2, they get 2 points. If they are off by 3, they get 1 point.

Unlike standard Wavelength, you do not guess higher or lower for the other team.

Play continues until every player has had one turn as the Radiation Technician.

The team with the most points at the end of the game will receive prizes.

Example Turn

The Category (known to all players) is “Cold” (1) to “Hot” (21). The secret number, known only to the Radiation Technicians, is 19. Infra, the Radiation Technician for team Infrared, gives the clue “The Sahara Desert”. Ultra, the Radiation Technician for team Ultraviolet, gives the clue “A furnace”.

Team Infrared guesses 17. Ultra’s team guesses 20. Team Infrared gets 2 points, because they were off by 2. Team Ultraviolet gets 3 points, because they were off by 1.
