also idrk. i dont really pay attention to the average start time of games
ive met alot of people who prefer specials and alot of people who prefer vanillas
but id say most people ive met havent had an opinion either way
alot of people just want to play mafia in any way possible

the games feel bland and uninteresting, with the same setups or bad ones
and if thats the case the players need to carry the experience
which i personally can’t say they really ever had on the site
then whats making the far less mechanically interesting games appealing

well, its a social deduction game
some people just like the social part, or the deduction part
unlike specials, your goal and forward planning is much simpler as well
in comparison keeping track of everything in a special can seem messy
for some people its more fun when youre winning the game off of solely social interactions rather than mechanical ones

Yes.
I can’t say that’s been my experience. I like socials over mechanics, you’ve all heard me complain a thousand times over about how mech clouds my vision, and I… like playing with the people here, I wouldn’t be doing so otherwise.
At some point, thinking this site’s users are inherently unenjoyable to play mafia with becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, doesn’t it?

when mech is involved though, ppl can just check the experienced people out of paranoia to get easy reads on them. (alt accounts can counter this though)
when its just socials though ppl eat each other for literally nothing sometimes. has to be with ppl u enjoy playing with IMO

the thing with getting checked is you can’t check people if ur dead and scum usually have tools to stop claimed cops or whatever
