I liquidated a fair bit of my stocks to insulate myself from what seemed like a fairly obvious bubble. I’ve been seeing a lot of folks talking about how much their portfolio has been hit in the past few days. I decide to check my account and… my ROI is currently 90%. The total value is nearly double what I actually put into it. What the actual fuck

I use betterment so it’s all automated. I didn’t even change my strategy. I’ll pull it up for you though to give a breakdown.

It’s set to 90% stocks. Current holdings are:

  • 47.2% U.S. Large Cap Stocks (SPYM, VTV, VTI)
  • 4% U.S. Small Cap Stocks (SPSM, VBR)
  • 5.7% U.S Mid Cap Stocks (SPMD, VOE)
  • 7.5% International Emerging Market Stocks (VWO)
  • 25.9% International Developed Market Stocks (VEA)
  • 6.6% U.S. Municipal Bonds (MUB)
  • 1.3% Internal Bonds (BNDX)
  • 1% International Emerging Market Bonds (VWOB, EMB)
  • 0.5% Cash

i mean ex-us is down but S&P500 has been doing fine as far as I can tell?

fwiw my own breakdown is roughly as follows

  • 75% in S&P500 (SPYM, DFUS, my 401k large cap option)
  • 15% in ex-US (VXUS)
  • 10% in US minus S&P500 (401k small cap option)

and then enough cash to tide me over for a few months if i were to lose my job, stored in an HYSA

i mean technically its still kinda going and has been for 5+ years if you allow for a minimum of 2 people because it started as a relationship in like 2021 with two people who went to high school together, expanded to 4 or 5 people at the peak, and people slowly got voted out until it ended with 2 people (1 of the original and someone new). Like its contiguous, never went down to 1, the last 2 are still together. Idk if it counts its kinda hazy like bands
