I actually really liked that ending message. I saw it as being a fitting retrospective on and sendoff for the series, and it ties really well into the gameā€™s themes about truth and lies. The charactersā€™ powers and identities may have been forged, but their experiences, their connections, their feeling, those are all real.
Does absolutely try to have and eat its cake, but I am, by nature, willing to let sentimentality win me over in an ending (see the Heavenā€™s Feel trilogy).
