yeah

idk maybe she deserves a break

rip to a real one for a month

i think we should remove the public moderation log and let people guess how long their ban is going to be

for every day you’re wrong, your ban lasts an extra day

keep people on their toes

i have bad news about discourse programming

tbf when i was moderating a garry’s mod server I did choose to whether to warn/kick/ban (and how long) people both based on the offense and like the Vibes they gave off

oh no totally like banning obvious trolls should obviously be a lot longer but it has its limits

i was still objective n everything but like
there ARE differences between people who wanted to troll and people who made a mistake

I guess we aren’t super clear about our moderation policies here but we really don’t want to punish people

Our goal with moderation is to keep FoL safe and fun, and welcoming to everyone. We want people to be here and others to feel comfortable with them being here - so our ban lengths reflect the amount of time we think a person will need in order to change. If we think they won’t change, or someone’s presence is only negative and toxic, that’s when we permanently ban or go for longer durations

Yeah Marissa is a Popular User, and yes, most people would be banned for a very long time for saying a slur, but context and intent are really important and I don’t think anybody here thinks she was genuinely trying to offend others or that she’s homophobic
