Last poster before threadlock gets a cookie (cookie thread (Part 7)) (Part 8)

(Honestly kyo still uses the funny winrate button when he really shouldn’t)

Because. You can turn the brain off early, but you still get rewarded immensely for thinking in every encounter. Doubly so for focused encounters where the game really doesn’t have “plays itself” elements

(That being said yeah the early sections are fairly easy lmao)

Also no the “game getting good” does not take 60 hours I literally didn’t have 60 hours when kyo and I were on the same point of progress in canto 4 :sob:

Revolutionary Girl Utena is a show that starts out seeming fairly simple in its first season, goes off the deep end in season 2, and never gets back on the rails until the very end. Like it is genuinely one of those shows where you have to wait until the end to understand the totality of its vision and execution. It’s a piece of media that was only worth it to me once I had reached its conclusion. I understand what you’re saying, but sometimes you do have to go along for the ride for a bit.

Me forging the latest post to rile up the piltoverian elite

It’s profoundly influential and even if you’ve never even heard of it, you have probably consumed a piece of media that was influenced by it or intentionally paid it homage.

influence doesn’t equate to enjoyment though, is it

Oh defintley, but also like its different if the first season is kinda bad, and then so is the second, and etc etc. Like amphibia for example, the first season is just a LOT of episodic character development, which is fun to watch but not super engaging and if the entire shoe was like that i wouldnt like it, but you wait until the end of the season where it all pieces togrther and BAM its so good. And then s2 is fucking amazing. And then theres also a third season which is there and its there

With limbus its like. Ok this gameplay is “hit a button and win”, im not engaged by the story yet and i came in expecting a turn based strategy game, so its just pretty boring and dissapointing. Id rather go play another game, or even another project moon game (lobotomy corp my beloved)

Well, my point is more that sometimes the juice is worth the squeeze. Sometimes going on a journey with a piece of media is worth it even if we’re a little lost or underwhelmed in the beginning.

Yes.

my point was that your opinion is unpopular, since the show you listed is fairly obscure, even if it is influential
people generally seek stuff that is interesting from the beginning to end, cause they dont want to waste time

From its Wikipedia page

Revolutionary Girl Utena has been the subject of both domestic and international praise, and has received many accolades. In 1997, the series won the Animation Kobe award in the “Best Television” category.[110] In 2017, Japanese broadcaster NHK conducted a national poll to determine the one hundred greatest anime in commemoration of the hundredth anniversary of the medium, in which Utena placed 30th.[111] Utena was listed as one of the ten “best anime ever” by Anime Insider [56] and ranked fourth on Paste 's list of the best anime of all time.[112] Anime News Network 's ranking of the 100 greatest anime films of all time placed Adolescence of Utena in eighth; in his review, writer Mike Toole called the television series “the most important anime of the 1990s”.[113]

On MAL, Utena ranks #362 which is pretty high all things considered. My Hero Academia, which I’m sure you’ve heard of, is #918. People who watch it seem to really enjoy it.

Greek and roman statues were painted they werent pure marble. Paint just chipped away. Theyd look so much worse with paint but they were painted

Medieval age peasant clothing wasnt all brown black and white. Muddy dark colors. People wore bright colors. Vikings wore rainbow bright colors. Pink was the most expensive color. Vikings wore bright pink. As civilian clothing. It just all faded away in historical artefacts and hollywood portrayed medieval period as all dark and gloomy. It was more colorful than modern europe and america. Probably on par with india. Everyone wore the brightest color they could to show off wealth

Hahahahah
